‘Photography is an art of observation. It has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them.’

Elliott Erwitt - world famous dog photographer

Creating something new

I am Suzi Darsa - The Highgate Dog Photographer. I am a passionate lover of both photography and dogs, and it is this passion that is translated in the portraits I create.

My vision of contemporary dog portraiture is one that evokes emotion, depicts beauty and embraces a modern aesthetic. The portraits I create result in striking images which have a lasting impact.

My background of working at The Tate Galleries, The British Journal of Photography and a leading digital image library has shaped my desire to create a contemporary aesthetic in dog photography which breaks the ‘traditional rules’ of what dog portraiture should look like.

I am currently studying for a Masters in Photography at Middlesex University and my personal photographic practise is developing all the time. I also work with families to create imagery that captures beautiful moments that can be treasured - more information can be found by visiting www.suzidarsaphotography.com

Aiming high

Starting out as a professional pet photographer in January 2020, I have gone on to achieve a top 100 placing in The International Pet Photographer Awards 2021 in their 'Open' category and have recently appeared as one of their featured artists.

I also work for commercial clients and I have recently been commissioned to complete a series of images of dogs and their owners for Transport for London to be used in their 2021 Active Travel Campaign.

Keeping busy

I am a member of The Royal Photographic Society and can often be found walking on Hampstead Heath, and taking photos of the dogs that walk there every day.

Many of these images can be seen in my Dogs of Hampstead Heath series, a personal project, and on my Instagram @thehighgatedogphotographer.

As The Highgate Dog Photographer, I am a proud supporter of the great charities All Dogs Matter and Jewish Blind & Disabled.

“Everything about our photoshoot with Suzi was fantastic. She has a natural way with dogs and people, making the session relaxed and fun.
Her wonderful photos perfectly capture our family and will be treasured. The quality of the prints is outstanding too - we couldn't be more pleased.”
